March 7 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

In anticipation of America’s 250th anniversary, we invite you to a continuing series of talks hosted by SERC archaeologist Jim Gibb, examining our country’s often bumpy road towards freedom and self-determination.

Article I: The U.S. Congress
Saturday, March 7, 2-3pm ET

The US Constitution, excepting the 27 amendments, consists of 4,447 words—about the length of a 15-page college term paper—2,276 (51%) of which are devoted to Article I. Article I delineates the prerogatives, responsibilities, and powers of the U.S. Congress. In this presentation, we will explore Article I and the Convention discussions and ratification debates informing each of its sections.
