Annapolis 250 Commission is Reaching Out!

August 30, 2024

Our Executive Director, Carol Benson, is a member of the Annapolis 250 Commission – established to coordinate the celebration of America’s Semiquincentennial in Annapolis and Anne Arundel County.

On July 4, 2026, we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. In preparing for America’s birthday, we want to reach out to all county organizations to let you know about an important planning meeting sponsored by the National Park Service on October 24th from 8 am – noon at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts to help you plan activities for these historic festivities.

Annapolis 250 hopes to partner with as many different county organizations and businesses as possible.  Annapolis played an important part in the founding of our nation – as the home of all four signers of the Declaration of Independence, as the capital of Maryland, and as the capital of the nascent United States. We hope everyone wants to be a part of this historic celebration.

It’s easy to be a partner – just plan an event, add it to the Annapolis 250 calendar and Visit Annapolis will promote your event throughout their national – and international – communication channels. Directions on how to add events to the calendar are in the Proposal document below.  The Commission will send you the Annapolis 250 logo to put on your website to recognize you as an Annapolis 250 partner.

So start to plan, if you haven’t already – and mark your calendars for the upcoming workshop.
