Read the CCHA Six-Year Plan for FY2027-2032

July 8, 2026

Each of the 13 heritage area management entities in the State are required by the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority (MHAA) to complete an Action Plan which supplement the most current approved version of each heritage area management entity’s Management Plan, outlines the activities the heritage area management entity anticipates pursuing in the specified time; and serves as the required attachment to the heritage area management entity’s annual funding requests to MHAA as part of their Management Grant application and corresponding Cooperative Agreement. The plan outlines how the activities of the heritage area management entity will support the Maryland Heritage Areas Program’s Strategic Plan: A Statewide Vision for Success July 2025 – June 2032 (FY26 – FY32), specifically the strategic results and three core areas of focus and impact: tourism, community enhancement, and sustainability.

The Six-Year plan is the guiding document that ensures that the work we do is in alignment with the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority. The extensive spreadsheet of goals and action items directs our programs, our local grant funding decisions and our long term planning for CCHA. Not only does this document details our Interpretive Framework and themes, it also is a benchmark for success as it relates to our annual operations grant awarded by the State. This Action Plan was approved by the heritage area management entity’s governing body, Chesapeake Crossroads Heritage Area Board of Directors, on March 16, 2026, and by the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority on April 9, 2026.
