CCHA One-Time Funding Opportunity Opens August 1

July 24, 2024

MHAA LogoBIG NEWS! CCHA will open a One-Time Funding Opportunity coming up on August 1. This funding is limited and will go quickly! Any partner organization of CCHA in our heritage area (i.e., participates in meetings and/or grant opportunities and/or Maryland Day, etc.) that is a nonprofit is eligible.

The application and details will be posted on this website, chesapeakecrossroads.org, on August 1. Applications must be downloaded, filled out, and submitted via e-mail to [email protected].
There are two branches of the funding, Flex Grants and Flex Sponsorships. Both the grants and the sponsorships will be “up to $2,500.” An organization may receive one or the other but not both. We hope to encourage new applicants and small organizations that find the match requirement of our regular grants to be a barrier. Partial funding is likely.
Who may apply: nonprofit heritage-related organizations who are active participants in our activities (including collaborative events such as Maryland Day), for projects/programs to take place in the Chesapeake Crossroads Heritage Area.
What we encourage: new initiatives including America 250 programs or events; collecting oral histories; programs to train and/or engage youth, including teaching youth to “Do History;” strategies to deal with sustainability, resiliency, coastline loss and/or sea-level rise; capacity-building initiatives or workshops, and more.
Flex Grant: Up to $2500; does not require match; non-capital only. For a project, program, or event that needs funding for development.
Flex Sponsorship: Up to $2,500. For a program or event for which planning is already in progress; must take place by June 30, 2025.
Applications will be reviewed in batches. Batch 1: applications accepted August 1 to 16. Decisions announced by August 21. It is likely that all funds will be expended in Batch 1, but in the event that there are still funds available, we will have a Batch 2 (applications accepted August 23 to September 4). Decisions announced by September 6. Batch 3 (if funds allow), September 6 to September 23, decisions announced by September 26.
Any organization that receives Flex Funding may also apply to the regular FY25 Mini-Grant Round in October — these are completely separate funding opportunities. Please contact the Executive Director at [email protected] with questions; more clarification to come with the Flex Funding announcement on August 1.
